In Workout Time, a workout is more than just a list of exercises. It is a highly customizable, structured flow designed to guide you through your training session with maximum clarity and complete individual control.
How a Workout is Defined
A workout is built as a sequential list of exercises. To support your training, each exercise is divided into up to three optional phases. The workout creator decides which of these phases are active:
- Intro Phase: The introduction. Used to read instructions, check posture guidelines, or see demonstration videos before you start.
- Setup Phase: A preparation timer (e.g. 5 seconds countdown). Gives you time to get in position or grab your equipment.
- Training Phase: The active work period where sets, repetitions, or active timer count down.
To enrich these phases, authors can attach additional media assets to the Intro and Training phases, such as **instructional text**, **demonstration images**, **videos**, or **mp3 audios**.
Suggested Duration: Most exercises are saved with a suggested duration. This is **only a suggestion**. You can train shorter or longer depending on how you feel.
Advanced Settings
Workout creators can define complex parameters to guide your training intensity:
- Sets & Repetitions: Set target reps and set counts for each movement.
- Loops & Repeat: Group multiple exercises together to repeat them (e.g. circuit training).
- Equipment/Device: Specific indications on what equipment to use (e.g. dumbbells, resistance bands, or a mat).
- Suggested Weight: Recommendations on what resistance or weight load to choose for that exercise.
Ultimate User Flexibility
Even though workouts are predefined, you have complete control over how you execute them. The app adapts to you, not the other way around:
- Before you start: You can edit the workout to customize your session today. Add or remove exercises, reorder them into a perfect row, and adjust target times or reps.
-
During playback: At any time during the active workout, you can:
- Extend or shorten timers on the fly.
- Skip single sets, pause timers, or skip entire exercises.
- Open the exercises overview list to jump directly to any exercise.
- Save custom versions: If you optimized a workout and want to repeat it in the future, you can save your customized adjustments as a new personal workout version. This is a great way to start future sessions with a single click and track your performance gains over time.
The best way to experience how this works is to start exploring the app, playing existing templates, and creating your first custom workout!
